About Level 1 American Depositary Receipt (ADR) Program
The Level 1 ADR program allows US investors to trade shares in the form of securities from companies that are not listed in the US. ADRs represent ordinary shares of a company at a certain ratio. They are traded on the US over-the-counter (OTC) market and are issued according to the demand (Unsponsored) or in cooperation with one designated depositary bank that acts as the transfer agent (Sponsored). The price generally tracks the price of the foreign security in its home market, adjusted for the ratio of ADRs to foreign company shares.
