Epigenomics Updates on Competitive Positioning
Date:  Tuesday, 20.11.2007
Berlin, Germany, and Seattle, WA, USA

Epigenomics' competitor Oncomethylome Sciences on November 19, 2007 published first own data on the early detection of colorectal cancer in blood using a panel of four DNA methylation biomarkers. The preliminary performance data of this panel presented are essentially identical with the performance of Epigenomics' blood test for colorectal cancer early detection based on the biomarker Septin 9 that was validated in numerous studies. The data provide independent validation of the feasibility of a simple and reliable blood test for colorectal cancer screening based on DNA methylation. Nevertheless, Epigenomics is convinced that the Septin 9 test is the by far more advanced product in development and better positioned from an economic point of view. A summary of Epigenomics' position is available here.
