The Early Detection of Colorectal Cancer Test Epi proColon® 2.0 CE

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is curable in more than 90 % of cases if diagnosed while still localized. Nevertheless, this disease is one of the most frequent causes of cancer-related deaths in the industrialized world.

The dilemma: screening options such as colonoscopy and fecal occult blood (FOB) testing exist, but patient compliance is low. The Septin9 test offers a convenient way of detecting colorectal cancer early: in blood. It's as simple as a blood draw.

The Septin9 test, the world's first blood-based IVD test for colon cancer screening, has been available as a CE-marked test kit in Europe and the Middle East since October 2009. In October 2011, Epigenomics launched an improved Septin9 test, Epi proColon® 2.0 CE, at the United European Gastroenterology Week (UEGW). The PMA submission for this new device to the US regulatory authority is expected to be completed in 2012.
