When finding out which cytosines in DNA are methylated and which are not, we equal them to 1s and 0s, thus digitizing the signals. Each tissue and each disease has its characteristic long string of 1s and 0s by which it can be recognized. Since this information is phenotypic, we call these identification-strings \"Digital Phenotypes®\".
