Berlin (Germany), Germantown, MD, and Newark, CA (U.S.A.), Beijing (China),
December 08, 2014 - Epigenomics AG (Frankfurt Prime Standard: ECX, OTCQX:
EPGNY), the German-American cancer molecular diagnostics company, and
BioChain, a leading clinical diagnostics company in cancer and genetic
testing in China and the U.S.A., announced today that the China Food and
Drug Administration (CFDA) approved Epi proColon(R) for commercialization
in China. Epi pro Colon(R) from Epigenomics is a non-invasive blood-based
diagnostic test for colorectal cancer (CRC) detection based on the Septin9
DNA methylation marker.
The approval was based on a major clinical validation study completed by
BioChain in April 2014, which confirmed the previously demonstrated
positive clinical performance of Epi proColon(R). While detecting 75% of
all cancer cases at 97.5% specificity in the Chinese study, this test has
the potential to become an important tool for medical professionals in
establishing and expanding CRC detection in this country. The availability
of CRC screening based on a blood sample will enable higher patient
participation in detection of CRC as a means to reduce later stage disease
and the associated costs. Epigenomics' partner in China, BioChain, expects
to launch the product within the next weeks into the Chinese market through
their established distribution channels and is currently preparing its
market launch throughout the country.

Epigenomics AG: Epigenomics’ strategic commercialization partner Polymedco reiterates its commitment to support Epi proColon(R) in the United States
|
Epigenomics AG / Key word(s): Alliance 03.11.2014 / 10:34 Epigenomics’ strategic commercialization partner Polymedco reiterates its commitment to support Epi proColon(R) in the United States
Berlin (Germany) and Germantown, MD (USA), November 03, 2014 – Epigenomics AG (Frankfurt Prime Standard: ECX, OTCQX: EPGNY), the German-American cancer molecular diagnostics company, today announced that Polymedco, Inc., a leading provider of colorectal cancer tests in North America, reiterates its commitment to support Epi proColon(R) in the United States. Epi proColon(R) is Epigenomics’ convenient blood-based test for colorectal cancer (CRC) screening, which is under review by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for U.S. market approval. Polymedco is continuing to diligently prepare for commercializing Epi proColon(R) once the product is approved and has started internal training measures and to establish customer and technical support. In addition, Polymedco strongly supports Epigenomics with continued logistics and personnel assistance in the upcoming ADMIT (Adherence to Minimally Invasive Testing) study, which aims to demonstrate that Epi proColon(R) will increase CRC participation in patients being offered this convenient blood-based test as compared to those being offered a fecal immunochemical test (FIT). This strong support of Epigenomics’ partner is further underpinned by the commitment of Polymedco’s President and CEO, Drew Cervasio, who with a significant personal investment has meanwhile increased his ownership of Epigenomics to approximately 180,000 shares. “As we work towards fulfilling the requirements outlined by the FDA, we are encouraged by the support and commitment displayed by Polymedco”, said Dr. Thomas Taapken, Chief Executive Officer of Epigenomics. “We are delighted with the strong signs of our strategic partners, Polymedco, and also BioChain in China, showing their belief in the future success of our product.” During the recent months, Epigenomics worked closely with the FDA and completed the design of the ADMIT study which is now being started in the U.S. To identify appropriate patients to be enrolled, Epigenomics is conducting the study with two major U.S. health care systems, who actively manage CRC screening programs. Site initiation for the trial is now ongoing. The ADMIT study will be conducted in average risk, screening eligible patients that have been historically non-compliant to CRC screening according to current guidelines. Once enrolled, patients will be randomized equally into two arms to be offered either the FIT stool test kit for home use or a blood draw for the Epi proColon(R) test. The rates of adherence in each arm will be measured and the primary objective of the study will be to show increased adherence for Epi proColon(R) compared to FIT testing. The study’s secondary endpoint is a measurement of compliance to colonoscopy in those patients with positive test results with Epi proColon(R) or FIT. The study was requested by the FDA in relation to the Company’s premarket approval (PMA) application for Epi proColon(R) in the U.S. – Ends – Contact Epigenomics AG Antje Zeise, Manager IR | PR Epigenomics, Inc. Epigenomics AG: Results of Adherence Study Published in BMC Gastroenterology Demonstrate that Epigenomics’ Blood-based Epi proColon(R) Improves Compliance to CRC Screening
|
Epigenomics AG / Key word(s): Scientific publication 27.10.2014 / 08:30 Results of Adherence Study Published in BMC Gastroenterology Demonstrate that Epigenomics’ Blood-based Epi proColon(R) Improves Compliance to CRC Screening Berlin (Germany) and Germantown, MD (U.S.A), October 27, 2014 – Epigenomics AG (Frankfurt Prime Standard: ECX, OTCQX: EPGNY), the German-American cancer molecular diagnostics company, today announced the publication of the results of a trial assessing the impact of a non-invasive blood-based test on patient adherence to colorectal cancer (CRC) screening. The peer-reviewed article titled “Improving compliance to colorectal cancer screening using blood- and stool-based tests in patients refusing screening colonoscopy in Germany” was published in the journal BMC Gastroenterology (BMC Gastroenterology 2014, 14:183 doi:10.1186/1471-230X-14-183). The study was conducted by Dr. Andreas Adler and his team at the Charité in Berlin, Germany. The study was designed to assess the willingness of patients to undergo CRC screening, and the impact of offering a blood-based test (Epi proColon 2.0(R)) as a screening alternative to stool-based tests after refusing colonoscopy. The study reported patient actions (which test was performed) and survey results from the patients to assess underlying reasons for their choices. In this study, 63 of 172 subjects (37%) were compliant to screening colonoscopy, one of the currently recommended methods for routine screening. Of the 109 subjects (63%) who refused colonoscopy screening 90 (83%) selected a Septin9 blood test, 16 (15%) had a stool-based test, and 3 (3%) refused any testing. Reasons for blood test preference included convenience of an office blood draw, overall convenience and less time consuming procedure. “We are very pleased to see that, when offered, a blood-based alternative colorectal cancer screening test like our Epi proColon(R) is an option that patients are willing to do,” explained Dr. Thomas Taapken, CEO/CFO of Epigenomics. “Since participation in CRC screening programs remains suboptimal, we are convinced that a blood-based test like Epi proColon(R) could significantly increase participation rates, considering that blood-testing is routine and well accepted for many other health conditions. This is crucial, since CRC has a very good prognosis if detected early.” – Ends Contact Epigenomics AG Antje Zeise, Manager IR | PR Epigenomics, Inc.
